What is team penning?

Team penning is a western equestrian sport where a team of three riders work together to separate a designated number of cattle from a herd and move them into a pen within a specific time limit. The cattle are typically numbered and the riders have to sort and pen the specific cattle in order, while working as a team to prevent any other cattle from running back into the herd.

Team penning requires skill, communication, and quick thinking from all three riders. Each rider is assigned a specific role within the team such as cutting, blocking, or penning, and they must work together to successfully complete the task.

Team penning competitions usually take place in an arena or pasture and are timed events. The team with the fastest time and the fewest penalties wins the competition. Team penning can be enjoyed by riders of all ages and skill levels and is a fun and exciting way to test horsemanship and teamwork.
